About me

Hi, I’m Simon a technical game designer focused on prototyping gameplay systems and interactive experiences.
I enjoy taking ideas and turning them into playable prototypes as quickly as possible. By combining design and programming, I can rapidly test mechanics, experiment with systems, and explore what makes gameplay feel engaging.
Rather than focusing purely on polished production code, my work is about iteration and experimentation building fast, testing ideas, and refining them based on how they actually play.
This portfolio is a collection of projects where I’ve explored mechanics, prototyped systems, and developed interactive ideas.
My experience
De Toneelmakerij
Technical Game Designer
2024 - 2026 | Amsterdam, NL
I joined the theatre company as a graduation intern, initially creating rapid prototypes for interactive stage concepts. These prototypes evolved into a full-scale theatre production, which I fully developed by the end of my time there, using tools such as Unity, Python, Isadora, and QLab.

Gamelab Oost
Technical Game Designer
2022 - 2023 | Enschede, NL
During my internship, I led a small multidisciplinary team to develop an AR-based tour in Hengelo. I focused on prototyping and testing game mechanics, while also managing team communication and overseeing the overall game design.

Skills
Proficient in Unity and familiar with Unreal Engine. Experienced with C#, Python, web technologies, and SQL, and quick to learn and adapt to new software and development tools.
Capable of quickly developing interactive prototypes to test mechanics, concepts, and technical approaches. My ability to quickly pick up new software allows me to adapt tools to the needs of each project.
Designing with the user at the centre, informed by my education and experience studying how people interact with the systems and experiences I develop.
Comfortable tackling technical challenges by experimenting with different approaches and tools to find effective solutions.
